Account recovery deserves the same care as your password
A strong password is only one part of account security. If the recovery email, phone number or backup method is outdated, you may struggle to regain access precisely when you need it most.

Review the recovery route
Open the account’s security settings through the official app or address. Check that recovery details belong to you and remain usable. Remove old information carefully, following the provider’s process rather than clicking a link from an unexpected message.
Protect the backup material
Store recovery codes in a secure place appropriate to the service’s instructions. Avoid putting the only copy inside the account they are meant to recover. Do not share codes with someone claiming to be support in an unsolicited conversation.
Test your understanding
Write down how you would start recovery if the main device were lost. You do not need to intentionally lock yourself out; simply verify that the instructions and required information are available. Repeat the review when changing a phone number or email provider. A few minutes spent on recovery can prevent a forgotten setting from undermining an otherwise careful security routine.
